I hear you on that... I did this before I thought about the heat being an issue. But again, I have had it installed for about a 1 1/2 weeks and no signs of heat damage or melting. After 45 min of driving, all of the pipe is cool....But it is January. I am thinking about using this temporarily until I get my funtional ram air hood.

I only hear mine on startup (a nice sucking noise), then it quiets down and I only hear itwhen I get on the throttle after that.

Thanks Ray! That is some nice news to hear! That guy with the post above you is an HVAC guy, and he said that they are using it to vent some of the higher efficiency furnaces. I really like it, though. And I did a pretty good job setting it up I think. Do you have pics of yours?

I have a K&N 77 Series on my 07 sounds great except for the EGR valve noise I occasionally get (sounds like an exhaust leak) I'm thinking about switching over to the TrueFlow XDI...but I love the deep throaty sound...

Anyone with the K&N get a noise from air being pushed back out of the intake when slowing down. Almost sounds like a turbo between shifts. Thats pretty much all I hear, that & a nice vacum in the morning.

How did you mount the filter? I had a mechanic tell me that PVC would make a great CAI kit because the PVC does not conduct heat very well, therefore, cold air inside is more likely to keep cool vs. a CAI kit that is chromed.

I've been trying to figure out how to do one, just didn't want it to look all mickey mouse, but yours looks good.
