I was wonder what kinda of noise are you getting with CAI??? and can they be heard over an after market exhuast???

I get a nice throaty soundwhen I am at 3000RPM+, other than that it is quiet as a church mouse.

when i had my cheapo ebay CAI, all i heard was an annoying whistling sound....now, with my AEM all i hear is the sound of the exhaust and every once in awhile i can pick up a slight whistling sound, but i really gotta be listening for it

i have the volant intake. onky time i hear it is when i first start it i can hear it sucking in the air but once it runs for a minute it is very quiet. it changed the sound of my exhaust but i love it. def worth the money spent. i agree with hemiyellow the ebay intak eri had before you could hear the loud whistle and the air gushing in all the time, hated it.

so besides the whistle of the ebay cai .. thats the only negative.. i'm going to purchase one this weekend and dont want to spend tons of money ...any suggestions?

Ebay intake here, no whistle. Can only hear at as stated about, around the 3,000 rpm mark. Can't hear any difference otherwise..

I made mine out of 4" PVC, but it was brought to my attention that heat has a detrimental affect on it, as it releases gasses, but I have heard (from RedRam05Baby) that HVAC companies are using PVC for venting furnaces now... I have been keeping an eye in it, and it does not seem to get hot while the truck is running. So take that for what it is worth.... Here is a pic incase you were interested...

As you can see, I painted it to match the truck, so it looks clean. The sensor is mounted in the first elbow, and there is a support bracket on the end near the filter.
