i get 20 - 22 on the highway. as far as reliability i will be doing my first valve adjustments 50,000 miles after you have to replace the Hemi. CTD all the way!!!!!!
...not to mention that the oil/filter change interval (at least for the 2007 5.9L CTD) is 15,000 miles. I still have the stock oil in the truck and have owned the truck since February of last year and driven 12,000 miles since. I have another 3,000 miles before my first oil change.

Well if I can find a a slightly used 2500 mega with the diesel, I think I will get it, but they are hard to find.

The additional up front cost of the CTD will be returned when you sell it. Go with the CTD you won't look back.

I have a similar truck to chongo, 'o7 1500 MegaCab 4x4. I bought in September. Have over 13k miles on it now. If not towing, the hemi is fine. As far as milage, I routinely get 15.0 on the interstate doing 70+. At current fuel prices that is $0.186 per mile. A diesel would have to get 18 mpg to equal that. I have never owned a CTDbut I did have a Powerstroke. Never saw more than 18 out of it. (and that POS broke down too much) Something kind of odd about this truck. It didn't feel like it was 'broke in' unit just over 10k miles. The tranny didn't feel like it was in the right gear. All of the sudden it seemed to click. And that hemi likes to rev. I have had 4.8l and 6.0l GMs. Motors known for reving. The hemi is in a class of its own. That hemi doesn't like to be bogged.

I would be curious as well, what gears you have. Do you ever tow anything? What was your mpg then? Hey chongo, did you mean you sent me an email? I never got one if you did.

the hemi is great but iv always wanted a diesel. if you got the money go for it. better to have the extra power and not use it than need it and not have it. plus you can buy and do sooo much more to a diesel. plus the straight up cool factor of blowin black smoke on somebody ha. hemi is great and i love it, but if you can get a diesel
