I've read that the Hemi with the MDS and the variable transmissions can feel weird, but supposed to be unnoticable. Well when I start out going about 25 MPH, I can hear & feel like a sputtering type sound and then feel the shift (from 4 cylinders to 8 I'm assuming) shortly after that... is this normal? It doesn't do it at all when I'm in Tow or OD off modes, I assume because the MDS is off... just want to make sure this is a normal sound & feel. Are there any other times the truck will do this? I've only got 380 miles and haven't really pushed it yet...

 

this has been reported a couple times on this site... I'm startin to get curious.... have you called the stealership?

 

do you have aftermarket exhaust? if so that's why. and i wouldn't worry about it.

i can hear, and feel the mds turn off and on.

if yours is completely stock i would check with the dealership, cause i never noticed it with stock exhaust.

 

Go back to the dealer and take a test ride with a similar truck. I did that years ago because I had a weird noise and I heard the same noise on a new truck before I even got out of the parking lot. You will feel better. Red

 

It's brand new, stock exhaust, and it's not really a noise, just feels like a little bit of a sputtering feeling. I don't know how to describe it other than that. It feels like my old '92 Chevy S-10 did with 100,000 mi. on it and when you hit the gas, it made the same sputtering kind of feeling.
I guess I will head up to the dealership and ask around, then take another new one out...

noticed it at 250 miles ,now have 2300 miles and a upgrade later i STILL do ==== dealership claims i need another upgrade ????


my 04 dodge hemi was stolen& TOTALED,around thanksgiving.sooooo i replaced it with about same truck model and options ,but in a 2008 === so far i hate this truck ,wish i had my 04 back !!!!! the rpm's are around 1500-2000 at start up (my old truck never did this)dealer said ,because it was cold ,then they said break in period ,,finally i got mad because it would do it after driving around all day ,shutting it off for minute and then restarting ,and when it was 45 degrees out !! then they took it in shop and said it needed a upgrade ,they did it and it did not work so now they say dodge is sending them another up grade ????? it's BRAND NEW my old truck never went into shop ,,,,,,,also this truck has low take off you really need to give gas hard or else it sputters ,,it also has a much stiffer ride then the 04 --- interior poppinp

ANY SUGGESTION ,,,ANY ONE ELSE HAVE A 08 WITH PROBLEMS

the problems so far 1 month later are = intrior light in back seat worked for a day or two ,when you'd open doors .... now it does not /// but funny thing is you can manually turn it on .

yeah dealer ship tells me it needs upgraded .what the heck i bought a 08 in 2007 ,,,, i think it should be up dated ???? guess they think cause i'm a woman i don't how a truck supposed to run!!!!! wish i had my 04 hemi back = that was a great truck ,she never seen a dealership after i bought her ..... to bad some juvies got a hold of her!!!! i hate my 2008 1500 bighorn hemi quad //// know anyone who would swap me for a 04 j/k j/k = for what i paid i should be living in it ,and ya never know i might some day ha ha

In my 07, I never noticed the MDS kick in or out with the stock exhaust. To be honest, I never knew it was there until I started researching aftermarket exhausts. If you can feel it switch from 4 to 8 cylinders and it's completely stock, I would definantly be taking it back to the dealership...

 

You can hear/feel when it switches from 4 to 8, but it's not real noticeable, but I can definitely feel it (could just be because I'm not used to it)... I took it to the dealership and had the service guy take it for a ride with me... he thinks it's normal because his Jeep did the same thing, and stated that if the "check engine" light didn't come on, then it's probably OK... said if I keep noticing it after a couple hundred more miles, bring it in...

 

i bought my 08 qc 4wd hemi 1500 the day after x-mas and my tranny has always felt wierdto me, and it feels like under full throttle it has a slight mis that i can feel. I had 150 miles on it and it got stuck in 3rd gear (limp mode) took it in had a code for low line pressure. they said it had a air pocket in the fluid.Butmy first complaint was driving down thehwyit feels like the converter is locking and unlocking about every 15 seconds. at like 64mph it jumps backand forth between 1700rpm and 2000rpm. they said dont use the cruise control for the first 500 miles. well in now has 1400miles and it still does it! I to can also feel, and hear it switch into 4banger mode it just sounds like ahorrible miss. this is my first dodge product i am a ford guy, i just bought this because i get greensheet and they had $6k in rebates and of course because of the lifetime warranty. I hope this truck is not going to spend most of its life in the shop.
I know how to work on cars, i have a 8 second mustang (that i built and race) and these service managers say this stuff is "normal"
they also say that this transmission is "normal" to take up to 6 seconds to engage after it has been sitting for 8hrs or more! that just doesnt seem normal to me.
