Default Wheel Speed Sensor

I was in Les Schwab's today getting the tires rotated on the wifes car and out of curiousity asked how much it would be to install a 4 inch lift in my 07 Ram Quad Cab. They said they couldn't do it because of the wheel speed sensor. What is it and who makes a lift that can be used with it?

The wheel speed sensors work with the ABS and traction/stability control to keep you out of trouble. I think they're usually in the hub, but could be part of the differential. Sounds like a weird excuse to me. What difference is a wheel speed sensor going to make in a lift project? New one on me.

I'd say stay away from Les Schwab, they obviously don't know what the hell they are talking about. Speed sensor is at the rear differential and a lift will not effect it at all...

There is a wheel speed sensor in both front hubs if you have all wheel anti lock brakes. If the wiring is not long enough, it will not reach the hub after the truck is lifted. I bet someone makes an adapter....

Aha! Well, there ya go! Yep, I bet there's longer cable, probably included in any decent-quality lift kit.

Yup, I'm showing my age again, never even gave ABS a thought. But with all the guys with lifted trucks on these forums, I've never heard the issue come up...

my 06 only has rear ABS and they still had to order one of the front hubs with a speed sensor in it when they did the recall, so it may be included on all of the 06+ rams in the front. [/align]
