I have the XDI. As hammer said, the intakes dont exactly do a whole lot but just gussy up the engine more...I mean i noticed a pretty decent increase in my low end torque...but other than that nothing too significant

I have the k&n 77 series it took me about a hour to install, the longest part is taking the old intake out, I haven't noticed much of a difference in milage, but sound is awsome when you give it the juice, i have flowmaster dual out the back, I'm not sure bout the hp increse. My take on the mopar intake is it does the same thing as all the others but they cost a whole lot more, i haven't seen a mopar intake for under $425, hope this helps, I like mine.
Hammer is right, the difference isn't phenominal, but it's a nice addition. In terms of brand, I also agree....I've got a K&N primarily because I've got a buddy who works at a dodge dealership who sold to me at his cost. If it'd been an XDI, that's probably what I'd have....install is a snap. Generally they all have decent instructions and there's a good amount of room under the hood so it's not bad. Maybe an hour with tools most folks have laying around..
In my opinion, the Mopar intake is overpriced, as has been mentioned and the difference between that and a K&N for example will be minimal.
K&N sends you a copy of the Dyno sheet showing you the HP gains from the intake. They claim 10.96 peak hp. Other than that, it definitely makes the truck louder above 3,500 rpm.
Lastly, if you plan on doing other mods you can start to experience synergies between them. For example, exhaust alone doesn't do much. But intake & exhaust and you should see more than the 10.96 hp gain. Then if you throw on a chip for example, the extra air flow in & out paired with the more aggressive programming should show you even more significant gains.
