Shooting to 200 rpm at start up??
Just got my second Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4, had the 2002 ans this is a 2004 with the laramie package and Im in love all over again!
Question: When I start the truck (Hemi) it instantly shoots to 2,000 RPM and then down to 600 to Idle. Any Idea as to what would do this? The truck may have sat for a bit and my guess is dirty injectors???

the truck shoots some gas into your engin to prime it when u start up kinda like how you prime a lawmower, so your rpms stay up, and on cold mornings the engin will run at about 200 rpms until the engin hit the proper heat but thats just to help the engin heat up faster, once the engin heats up u will see the rps drop down to about 1500
Yep.........normal for Hemi's.
I sometimes feel a right idiot, when the truck starts first thing and people are passing.
It looks like your giving it some revs like a "boy racer", when it's the computer doing it's thing.
With my cutouts open, it really sounds loud and makes this throttle blip sound a bit too silly for a guy of my age (nearly 50) ha ha ha.[sm=GrowUp.gif]
Still, I guess it's not as bad as the guys who blip the throttle to get noticed, when they shut their trucks down.[sm=lame.gif]
