Default Leaking rack & pinion?

Ram 1500 QC 4x4: I have afluid leak in the area of the inner tie rod boots on the steering rack. It doesn't look or smell like power steering fluid, its clear and oily. Are rack and pinions typically filled(sealed) with an internal fluid that is separate from the power steering fluid? The power steering fluid resevoir is full and not losing fluid. Steering is still working fine. I'm stumped. Anyone have an idea?

Default RE: Leaking rack & pinion?

All I can say is I'm going to be going on my 3rd Rack replacement in 2 years, for the same problem. This time I'm not letting the dealer touch my baby, they want 1k+ to replace it and lied to me about warrenty being lifetime on last part(should have got it in writing!) As far as the fluid being different colors I'm not sure about that. is it the same color as coolant? Iv'e had my over flow dump out onto rack area before. As far as I know the racksare not filled with seperate fluid.
