Default RUST!

Pardon my rant, BUT I bought my truck less than 2 months ago and I'm already seeing rust spots on my rear bumper. Its been so cold here that I can't get my truck washed yet so some of the road salt has been sitting on there for about 2 weeks. It hardly makes sense to take it in to the dealer until I can get the thing washed so I'm stuck with it!!!![:@][:@][:@]

It is not likely that it is the metal rusting. Usually it is particles of crap that is rusting on top/stuck to the chrome or paint. This is very common, especially in climates where you can not wash for weeks in the winter. The best thing is to keep wax on it in the winter to help prevent things from sticking to the surface.

I had a similar spot on my 05 Hemi that I saw yesterday. It is to much of a pain to pull into the garage this time of year, so I did something I never did before. Took it to a detail shop where they hand washed and waxed. Of course that spec is gone and there is nothing wrong with the finish, other than it is nice and smooth now

True, I am sure it is just some specs on your paint/chrome. I had it on one of my cars. I just used a clay bar on the paint and it took all of the specs off. You have to wax after the clay bar too.
