I hear a ticking/clanking noice ever since I installed my True Flow XDI CAI. You really only hear it when you are cruising at low speed, then when I lay into it the noise goes away. I think I remember reading something on the forum about this, but want to confirm. Something about hearing this noise because of the metal intake pipe and the sound eccoing???

 

Yeah, get used to it. The stock resonator really quiets any engine noises, and now that you don't have that anymore, you'll hear a lot of new noises coming from the hood. You can probably hear an audible sucking of air noise when you shut it down too.

 

I don't seem to have the noise on mine... I just installed it Saturday. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.

 

Yeah, I too have noticed this after I installed the CAI. Only really notice it when I'm on the Freeway going around 90km and giving it a little bit of gas...Kinda sounds like an exhaust leak to me so I was gunna make sure the connects were tight, but if its normal i'll just leave it.

 

What you are hearing is the EGR vavleopening and closing. Very common with CAIs, especially the ones that use the steel tubes, really echoes that valve noise...
