catalytic converter

Default catalytic converter

I heard that the catalytic converter has an 80,000 mile warranty on it is this true. A mechanic told me this a place that i do work for. Is he full of it or is he on to something. Its a 2003 dodge ram 1500 5.9l

you sure its a 5.9, i dident think they hade a 5.9 in gas?!?!

the old 5.9 gas V8 was available until 2002 in the 3rd gen Ram.

Cat falls under the emissions warranty - which lasts until 80k (check your owners manual). Had a Jeep dealer replace my Cat free of charge.

cool thats what i thought. I hope its gas thats what i have put in it since i have owned it. if not i may have more trouble thatn just my converter

what if you are not the original owner of the truck? my guess is you lose that feature of the warranty

Doesn't matter...it's a federal emissions warranty and has to be honored. There's also a year along with that 80k too...i'm thinking 8 years or 80k.

Yea, the 5.9 is the 360 ci. Like the 5.7 is a 345 ci. lol
