Default muffler tip

Is it possible to weld a 2.5" inlet of a muffler tipto a 3" outlet on an exhaust system? I heard of a reducer but I'm not sure what that is or if I would need it in order to do this?

yes you can with a reducer. but it wont look good. i would leave it stock or get a tip with a 3" inlet.

Why dont you use the proper size tip?

the only tips that fit my exhaust are only 12" long..i need somethin longer than that..like 18" or 22" but they only make those with a 2.5" inlet or a 2.25" inlet. I wanted to get one that has a 4" outlet and a 3" inlet but they don't make that for some reason

Nevermind i misread your post, i thought you were saying exhaust tip, like for looks.

Yeah, you can use a reducer, no one will notice. Any muffler shop will have them, and weld it on when you put on your muffler
