Default Something to watch for with a True Flow XDI

Just want to pass then on for anyone about to install a True Flow XDI. It comes with a pair of orange couplers; a 3 1/2"X3 1/2" to go from the throttle body to the flow tube, and a 3 1/2"X4" to go from the flow tube to the canister. It wasn't until I was almost done that I discovered that I had a 4"X4" instead of the 3 1/2"X4". I had to jury rig some things to make it work for now; it was either that or put the old airbox back in. I'm sure it was a simple packing mistake at the factory, but I'd suggest anyone putting one on to assemble on your bench prior to starting work on your truck. True Flow was very apologetic about it, and is shipping me a new coupler out today.

Also... step 4 of the instructions says "Locate and disconnect the air temp sensor from the rear of the resonator box". I can't speak for any other motors, but on the 2008 5.7 HEMI, it's at the FRONT of the resonator box. Small detail, just passing it on.

FYI, that big intake canister looks mean under the hood. Since I don't have the resonator box with the "5.7 Liter HEMI" on it anymore, I'm going to fix a HEMI emblem on the silver tube.

I'm shopping around still, how do you like this intake? Power, sound, etc.

Thanks!

That's the intake that I would like to go with.

The guys at true flow are pretty good to deal with. When I was looking at buying one for my truck I emailed them with some questions. Emailed me back and answered all of them. SmittyRN.........getting the sensor into the tube was a mother. Did you have any problems?

No, I just wiggled it in. That's about the only thing about the design I'm not happy with, but I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it stays.

I love it! Can't compare it to other brands, I have no experiance with them.... but did my research here and found a good deal at Truckcustomizers.com. If you are looking to go budget, get the True Flow 30504 from Amazon.com; it uses your stock airbox. I paid a little over $100 more for the XDI, and from what everyone says, you can't go wrong.
