resonator removal??
can the resonators on the 6 hemi rams be removed easily. if so would there be any performance/sound benefit. i know we have a 3" exhaust from the factory and that it flows ok as it is. lookin for a cheap couple of hps without a new exhaust. what about just getting rid of the submarine-sized muffler??
I doubt removing the resonators would give you much gain, but maybe with those and the muffler you might see a few hp. It would definitely be louder and you could just replace them with some more pipe....
WhenI removed my rear resonator it did get louder and the tone changed....which is a good thing because it was a little too quiet with the magnaflow muffler. I still have the front one on though..
I removed it all and had my muffler guy weld in 3" pipe in its place.
Its Loud.
I love it, but I do forewarn you, that it is rather loud and drones a little, but hey, I'm young and obnoxious anyway, so my truck should be too.

Resonators are non-restrictive by their design, or at least not restrictive enough to be of any consequence. They simply "bounce" like sound waves off of each other which basically causes these waves to "cancel" each other out, resulting in a quieter exhaust. They may also help in eliminating the dreaded "drone" noise in the cab experienced by so many who have installed a cat back exhaust on their MDS Hemi's where the resonator(s) were removed.

If cutting is a problem, you're still going to have to cut your muffler off.
Taking the muffler off would most likely be louder than taking the resonators off. Anyone know for sure?
