So i was planning on get a quad cab 4x2 .... my only question is how will this thing handle in the snow?? We dont get to much snow, i live in Delaware... but we do get some every year... i know last year my reg cab 4x4 was all over the place when it was in 2wd... 4x4 it was a beast.

2x4 with limited slip differential will give you true 2 wheel rear drive. Otherwise the rear wheel with the least resistance could be slipping.

Definately need the LSD. Also, I usually pick up some 80# bags of Quikcrete. During the winter you can usually find these bags for a few dollars a bag. If you get 5 bags thats 400# of weight for just a few dollars.

I've never had trouble with a LSD 2WD truck. Just shovel some snow in the back and go.

I use sand bags in the rear of my 4x2..Our local "Menards" sells "tubes" of sand. The sand is in a heavy plastic bag inside of a thin woven bag made out of some type of plastic. Each bag costs about $1.79 and weighs 70 lbs. I put 5 of them between the wheel wells and hold them togeather with a strap so they don't slide around, works great for me.

Ok guys, got a question...this will be my first winter with a pickup. I have a 2wd '04 Ram. Anywho, I just put in a truckbox in the back. Today I made a box to put in it to hold sand, 17"x54" and 4" deep, filled it with sand, took ~ 175 lbs. I've got two questions I guess, one, is that enough? Also, thats toward the front of my bed, is that OK or do I REALLY need the sand directly above the axles?

I would think with the weight in front of the rear wheels might not be the best location as the weight is distributed on the frame, foward of the spring mounts. But your's is a clean design. Free sand not covered or bagged gets wet, and real messy when you try to remove it in the Spring.

Hmmmmmmm.....now I dont know what to do, lol. It'll be a PITA to take it out of the box, it sucked getting it in there, and now all the sand is in the box. I'll test it out, wait for a good snow and see how she does, and if I dont think there is enough traction, I might take it out and rig up a different box for between the wheelwells.

The reason I put it in the box is someone I know told me that it was not good for the truck to have it directly over the axles.... I dont know how true that is though.
