I have the Flowmaster 50 HD (plus CAI and Long Tube Headers). Awsome sound from that combo, not too loud (to me anyway) unless you "get on it" then it comes to life!

'Tis true though, there are a lot of better flowing mufflers than Flowmasters on the market.
You want great flow AND loud, then look into a Cherry Bomb!!!

 

Have cherry bombs changed in the last few years...

I had one on a 350 chev motor, and holy **** it was LOUD

 

Not one bit! The only one I ever had was on a '73 Nova S/S with the 350 I got in the mid eighties when I was in high school.
They went away for a while but are making a big comeback. They now make a full line of all types, but nothing beats that big 'ole red glasspack!!!

Some of their newer stuff doesn't seem to flow really well but the old glasspacks sure do.

 

Try a flowmaster super 40 with your resonators removed.

From what i've been hearing magnaflow is the way to go for performance and sound.

you can use a flowmaster 40 series...thats the best..but goerlich's made a direct remake of it..i have it and it sounds exactly the same. the only difference between the two is that one says flowmaster...and the goerlich's is half the price. if you're intrested its the goerlich'sxcelerator model.

 

And what exactly do you base that on? Personal preference?
