Default steering pump

my steering pump is starting to go out. it will cost 1100 plus labor to replace old one. is there any way to find cheaper. i couldnt afford that kind of money right now. when i press my brakes and turn, the steering gets real hard to turn. it also makes noise when u turning the wheel while not moving

First thing I would do is buy some new hose clamps to replace the ones from the factory and then top up the fluid again and see how it goes. It could just be that the leak is so bad it can't build up enough pressure. $5 could save you that $1100. The noise is because it's low on fluid. Check/fill immediately.

If the level is good and it's still making noise, then your pump is probably shot. I can't believe you're going to get charged that much though. A p/s pump should be $150 max. and then about 2 hours labor.

SO........why go to the dealership? Get out the phone book and start calling shops for quotes. Or just spend the cash and let the dealership violate you.

Your cash, your choice.
