Default Cheap Exhaust Setup

I have the Borla Headers and Exhaust system in a box waiting to go onto my truck...cost about 1800$....however.... I am not putting it on until this summer.... so here is what I did.....I cut the resonator off of my truck where the pipe turns down and blows out toward the rear axel.... then I drilled six holes symetrically along the driveshaft side of the stock muffler (1/2 diameter) and three into the bottom.....I havent noticed a power loss... and it runs great....I am not getting any of the fumes in the cab either.... It gives it somewhat of a glass pack sound.....its real throaty and mean.... I do not suggest this unless you plan on getting an exhaust.....do not drill any more holes then what I have...or.... you will be breaking noise code in most places......The idle noise is much more throaty as well....sounds amazing with my 63 series intake....i know there are some college students around on this forum.....this would be a good idea for you students like me......anyway happy trails....michigan rocks(kinda) lol later ~Mike

Was the Borla stuff a gift? I would not be waiting if I had already laid down the cash.

What are your plans for the midpipes and CATs? I like this plan. It is called, the what CATs plan.

Others have asked for pics of your intake and piping from your fog lights, get that camera out man!

i did just the opposite on mine. i went to a shop and they charged me $35 to cut out the muffler and installed a 3" pipe and i left the resonator on. very loud and sounded awesome until higher rpms when it would pop like a bog truck and i wouldnt shift at redline either cause it would "fart" at me

Sounds like a cheap mod but I guess if you didnt like it it would force you to buy what you want.

i promise when spring hits you guys will see everything with pics.... its too cold wet snowy and salty to be climbing underneath there.... and i know ill be pissed when i see all the salt damage....fricken michigan..... as far as the ram air pvc pipe....its ran through the bottom driving lights over the wheel well into the air box which i used a deadbolt hole drill to make..... closing off the box hasnt been done yet but it will... I will probably do it out of sheet metal with some hinges and a cotter pin that way i can open the top to clean my filter easier..... also something you guys might want to think about.....just an idea...... they make hood insert vents.... cut a hole in the hood put the rectangular vent in right over the airbox and fabricate a pipe out of a vacumn cleaner accessory....its cheap and it works just like me.......

saw about 30 to 40 hp gain (havent dynoed yet cause im not done), I also noticed huge throttle response increase.. right around 3.9 - 4.0 0-60 depending on temps and conditions....it didnt help with the tread....its also making my ujoints sqeak when it shifts....ive been through 7 trannys so under warranty.....also last time i raced it...my truck wouldnt go into gear anymore......Took it to the tranny shop and the 2 filters inside the tranny had shifted out of alignment on me....so after about 100 bucks to get that fixed he runs like a scolded ****in dog...... hopefully that answers ur question....by the way valve work is only about 300 dollars so its definately worth it however you have to get it rejetted...

i dont want my borla exhaust getting salt on it.... we have been getting inches of freezing rain snow and hail for weeks then it dries up but as soon as the first speck of anything hits the roads these stupid democratic tree hugging bastards cry for salt........ im getting a beater this summer for winter use during salting ....so no worries...
