You should try for a used cummins really. it will out last both the hemi and the tundra. Lets face the facts. Your not gonna get 200k out of a hemi, and your sure as hell not getting it out of an i force in a tundra.

200k is easily done in a diesel.
While I agree that the diesel is better for the 200K mark I see no reason a well cared for Hemi won't hit 200K.

I will never buy a foreign made truck, and the way the Tundra seems to be holding up, I think it is a rather smart decision.

You know if you come on a Dodge forum you are going to get pro Dodge replies and nada for the competitor. It's your money research yourself which one suits your needs. Read a couple of reviews reading a little between the lines to get the real information.

An option that can help you decide is what you think about a truck and asking for specific feedback on these items. Say for example, the space in the cab, layout of the bed, fuel ecomony (definately not really thinking about a truck), hp/weight ratio, etc...

If you really want us to decide which truck to buymaybe you need to sit this one out and rethink whether you need a new truck or not.

200k from a hemi...no problem. hell, 200k from damn near any vehicle is no problem, atleast with the engine....no as far as any other part, not gonna happen. usually by that mark you're replacing fuel pumps, water pumps, brake caliper/rotors/lines/booster, ball joint, u-joints.
but which is gonna have the cheaper/easier repair issues.

but, on the other hand...if u wanna look like a straight guy, go with the hemi...35's and always keep mud on it...also put a big *** dent in the bed, and a big NRA sticker on the window.

I agree with pirata, your on a fanboy website, so that is what your gonna get.

Why do you need the 2500?

Jayh2112...Not being rude, but if you wanna pull the made in the USA card, more tundra's are made here in the states than Ram's

Drive them both, I was a Chevy man before I drove the Ram. No other truck drives like a Ram, I even turned a buddy of mine. He could not resist after he drove one. Also with the lifetime powertrain warrenty you really can't go wrong IMHO.
+1

I too was a Chevy man, Now I got an '06 megacab, its built on the 2500 frame. I will never go back. Especially with the lifetime warrenty, there is no way you can go wrong! However as mentioned by others, I'd get the CTD. I got the HEMI in mine, but I only get 11MPG (due to the size), and If I knew then what I know now, I would have got the CTD. If/when I trade this truck, I will get the CTD next time.

I do have a co-worker buddy that has a Tundra for his daily driver and loves it, but he does nothing as far as towing or hauling, and Tundras have tons of recalls. You can ask any one thats been in the car/truck business for any number of years and they will tell you, Dodge trucks are heavy duty trucks, they are built to be work trucks.

a good friend of mine has 709,000 miles on his 97 cummins and its still running strong. Get a good used cummins ram, buying a new vehicle is always a rip off.

Well I like that fact that I can get a long bed in the 2500to fit one snowmobile in the bed, and my other sled on a single place trailer, that is the reason for the 2500. I like the 1500, however with one sled in the short bed, the tailgate would have to left down, and I don't think I can tow a trailer with the gate down. I full well reailze that the 2500 is overkill, however the Dodge would be cheaper to purchase. I do need a pick-up, I am just confused as to which one! I guess I could even get by with a Tacoma, but...............

you can get a regular cab 1500 with a long bed, but you can't get any other cab styles.

I have a buddy with a tundra, it's a very nice truck until the service light comes on. You have to take it i to a service center to get the light off that just came on cause you needed an oil change.
