Default 08 1500 Ram 4x4,5.7,Quad Cab ?'s

1st of Hello to all,
I would like to know what to expect out of this P/U...It will have the 5.7.What MPG can I expect,I will be driveing mostly Hwy 50 miles round tripto work and back,I know what my 99 1500 Rams got but would like to know what to expect with this NEW 5.7 that cuts down to 4 cyl when on the hwy,My normal cruise speed is 60mph.
Besides getting a great p/u I would like some input..

PS,
I will be buying it this week,Mon or Tue's if all goes well with the wife....Who am I kidding I am buying it no matter what, will deal with the wife when she gets home .

i have an 08 standard cab. If i were you with the quad cab i would expect anywhere from 14-17 on the highway. Around town about 11-13 depending on how big and heavy ur foot is...

Iam starting to be a little more light footed as I get older(47),I own a 07 Tacoma 4x4 double cab 4.0 v6right now but took a differant job closer to home(no more 147 mile round trips to work and back).I work in the Marine biz now and the Tacoma is a little small for some of the boats I need to pick up and deliver.I am getting around 17-19mpg with the Toyota so going Back to the Ram shouldnt be that much of a dif in mileage Iam guessing,I do pull my own pontoon,Ranger Bass boat, and Atvs around and its a little to much for the Tacoma....
I would go for the 2500 I6 but think thats over kill for what I do.....

Any negatives with the 08,5.7..

I went from an 01 Ram 1500 Qcab 5.2l to a 07 Ram 1500 Mega Cab 5.7l. Mileage on the highway got better by about 2 MPG, went down a little in town, but not much. But I also have only had it this winter with temps down to -30-40 C. With the increase in power im impressed with the mileage compared to my dog of a 5.2l.

PS it wont start right now.

Bummer i read the thread with your problem(i beleave it was you)..The temp right now is -16deg with a -52.7 wind chill...I live on a hill on the lake so Iam out in the open, anyway.Ive never had problems with ether of my 99 Ram1500s 4x4-V8 but they got around 12mpg towing and 14-15 hwy....Hopefully if I get This 08 on Mon or Tues I wont be disapointed....

Iam not getting any real deal do to the fact I still owe alot on the 07 Tacoma the MSRP is 38,600.00 and with trade I will still be at 32 grand including tax and lic.My payment will be about 70.00 higher.....can we say bend over a grin [].......
