another dumb exhaust ?
I Think so on our trucks because if you get a system that bolts up to the y pipe conection it is allmost astraight shot to the muffler and then over the axle to out the side. Allready 3" pipe. I asked the same question ata local 4x4 shop and the guy said " I can't tell you it will be any better than just replaceing the muffler there is nothing fancy to get around under here".

+1 There is no reason to get a cat-bak system on our trucks, the OEM pipes are 3" Mandrel bent Stainless steel. You can't get better than that!
Some cat-bak systems like the Flowmaster cat-bak would actually be a down grade because the only use aluminized steel.
However.. If you are thinking of a dual exhaust out the rear setup, and are interested in one of the systems that uses mandrel bent stainless steel (like Gibson), than you would be better off to do a cat-back, because if you go to an exhaust shop 99% of them will compression bend your pipes, and most will only use aluminized steel pipe.
If all you want to do is put in a new muffler and leave the rest stock, than a cat-back would be a complere waste of money.
