i would like to get one too but one thing is stopping me. it will hinder your trucks abilty to properly deploy the airbag. basically, the sensors that react to impact will not recieve the signal until later then they should and will then make the airbag deploy later then originally intended. but i still i still like em!
The accelerometer is the device that tells the bag to inflate. Inflation happens when there is a collision force equal to running into a brick wall at 10 to 15 miles per hour (16 to 24 km per hour). A mechanical switch is flipped when there is a mass shift (deceleration) that closes an electrical contact, telling the sensors that a crash has occurred. It won't affect how quick your airbag deploys at all.
thank you, that was what i was getting at, but i didnt explain it near as well.

Got one on my truck and I like it. Take a look at my gallery, I have a nice side shot with the mounts through the front using the tow hook mounts. It is the Westin E series bull bar (no westin marks on the skid plate). The E series also has one that mounts by going under the bumper if you want to keep your tow hooks or are getting some.

FWIW i think they sit too low. Damn things will never be out of the mud. Im in the process of fabricating my own , its gonna be a 4" stainless steel pipe straight across attached to the towing eyes, like a nudge bar really with 2 or 3 off road lamps on top . If i need a tow ill just tie the sling on to the pipe, it will be plenty strong enough. Ill post some pics when im done.

i just put the aries on my truck and it looks really nice. ive got the new laramie front bumper with the chrome in the middle and it totally suits it. Install was really easy too, the hardest part was removing the black valnce and cutting it. I paid $350.00 canadian at a local shop but when i was calling around some guys were about $500.00.

For the lights, most bars come pre drilled with the holes, but if they don;t have them, I don;t see it being to hard to do it yourself. Unless you don't have the drill or the bits to do it. Mine came predrilled.

As far as the rust goes, it all depends on the type you get. Obviously if you find a cheap steel set, it is going to rust. If you spend the money and get the stainless set, it won't rust as long as you take care of it.

For the sitting to low part. They are supposed to be low. This is why they have skid plates as well. A bull bar is made to push things out of the way. You want something higher, look into brush gaurds.
