Default oil pressure??!!

The last 2 days I've gone out in the morning to start my truck I've noticed that it didn't have any oil pressure indicating on the gauge. If I shut the truck off and then right back on it reads fine. It only seems to do it the first time the truck starts and when I'm useing the remote start. I'm thinking that their might be an issue with the sending unit or the gauge, because if the pump crapped out I don't think it would have all kinds of pressure issues all the time. Anyone else seen this or have any clues? Thanks

I just had a problem with my oil pressure droping at at idle, they found that I had a bad oil sending unit. The shop said when they tapped on it it was intermittent.

Mine does the exact same Tafet, only had it 3 weeks, think its an electrical thing, my trucks only done 12000miles, it reads just above the red then if i switch her off and restart its perfect , bang on the centre. If you do a search on oil pressure you will see dozens of threads, must be a common fault.

Thanks for the info.I was going to start troubleshooting from thesending unit. I'll have to put it on my todo list when I get her back from having a new diff installed.

Started to have a similar problem but with my fuel gage. Works one day and a week later it will read empty right after I fuel up.

How cold out is it where your truck sits? Could this be the issue?

What the underdrive pulley does is slow down the accessories the motor is driving. (power steering, ac, water pump, altenator) This will lower the drag and will free up a few ponies that the engine loses driving the accessories. I'd be lying if I said I felt a big change. I've only been driving it if needed and like a grandma because the rear diff is failing. (the old c-clip issue) I just got my truetrac and am scheduled to have it installed next week along with my 4.56 gear set.

Can't help ya. Just keep an eye on you engine temp, just incase your oil pressure is acting up.
