New here. 1500 Mega cab Q's
Hello all. Been lurking for a little while and decided I would join and ask a few questions to the experts.
I am looking to purchase an 08 1500 Mega Cab, and I am curious to know if the added weight of the mega cab vs the quad is noticeable. Does the Mega Cab and Hemi provide more than enough power in your opinions.
My second question is about MPG. When the Mega 1500 is driven stock and I keep my foot out of itwhat kind of MPG can I expect. I know this is a broad question but curious to see how others are doing.
I would be very interested to hear about your overall satisfaction with this truck, any input would be great.
This looks like a great site, I look forward to future discussion here.

Yes the added weight is noticeable - it is essentialy a 3/4 ton truck - it is heavier.
MPG is going to vary depending on what size tires gears and terrain (hills/flat) - I would order yours if you are getting the 08 with the 4.10 rear end - The 3.73 is not enough gear for this truck and it's only a 50 dollar option when ordering.
But on av. 10 in the city and 14-15 on the hwy @65 - this is what I am getting.
Goodluck and enjoy the truck

Ram truck sales are way down
customers are scarce
and Dodge salesmen are bored.
Now would be a good time to go around
and find a salesman who would let you
and a friend test drive at the same time
a 5.7 V8 Megacab
against a 3.7 V6 Ram shortbed
using the overhead trip computers
Take along cell phones or walkie talkies
to pass back and forth information
about what the MPG readouts of both trucks
are doing in different types of driving,
city stop and go
highway at 60 mph
highway at 77 mph
and so forth.
The rough 'rule of thumb'
is that a 10% increase in weight
decreases MPG by 6%
If the typical Ram weighs about 5500 lbs and gets about 13 MPG
then a 7500 lb Megacab ought to get about 11'ish MPG
and a 3900 lb V6 shortbed Ram 2wd ought to get about 15'ish MPG

Mine is a daily driver and you can feel the weight on every turn no matter how fast you are going, even when you are parking. As far as the Hemi being enough, it all depends on what you plan on doing. If you don't plan on pulling large loads regularly, then you will be fine. Gas mileage stock sucks!!!! You can expect 8-10 city and 12-14 hwy and if you live in the mountain area, lower those numbers. But by adding a few nice mods, you can increase those numbers that will put you a little more at ease. Not to mention it is fun.
Am I happy? Hell yeah, love my Megacab...
