Default Mega Cab 1500 vs 2500

So is there any?

I did the Dodge website "build" 2 exact trucks though the 2500 did have a few more options that I could choose but did not (like the no-gasser motor) to make them exactly like mine and found the 1500 to be almost a couple grand less but no difference in anything....

They must have cheapened em up somehow?

I thought the 2500 had a different suspension setup. i know the 15 and 25 are both solid, but i though the 2500 was set up differently...

hmm.... I though the only difference was the numbers. Maybe I'm wrong.

that is what i thought at first too. But then it was discussed on here that the rear was different, the payload and tow capacity of the 1500 were lower than a 2500, and this was why.

BUT, that also could be dodge just printing that, trying to save the sales of the 2500's

Thought the mega cab was built on a 2500 frame. thats why those big bumpers like from ranchhand will only fit on 2500-3500 as well as a 1500megacab only. maybe the leafs are less on the megacab dont know.

I believe the suspension is a little stiffer on the 2500, past that the only difference is the door sticker stating payload.

I looked at the suspension pretty hard and see no difference.... springs, shocks, now I did get the heavy duty package on my Mega Cab but I think they all do.

I looked at the GVW and it is exactly the same as the2500 and my front leveling kit was for a 2500 and if I get the air ride for the rear it will be for the 2500.

Thanks for all the input!!!

I looked up the part #'s on suspension components of both the 1500 and 2500 megacabs. Everything was exactly the same except the rear leaf springs. But the 1500 megacab has more leafs than a 1500 QC and the same # as the 2500. I even measured the two with a micrometer and there the same thickness. Go figure huh? What I do know for sure is that my 1500 mega rides like a 2500 and my 8000lbs camper only sqauts it about 2in., no eqaulizer hitch either. So in my opinion I would call a 1500 megacab a heavy half at the least.

From some other posts it looks like if you get a "standard" 1500 Mega Cab you get a 9 1/2" rear end but if you upgrade you get a 10 1/2" rear end. That is the ONLY difference I have found besides what I said in the initial post.

Thanks again!
