Towing upgrades
Any suggestions to make my 4.7 tow a little better. I know the best bet is to buy a diesel but its not an option right now. My truck sags in the rear alot with my boat on and I could use a few more horses as well. Only thing I have done so far is add a k&n intake and filter.
Welcome to the forum. For power ideas check out 4.7 performance upgrades under most commonly discussed topics. As far as sagging with a load you could get helper springs or airbags. I'm trying to decide if I want bags or springs myself.
Whats your gear rat now? 3.55 3.73 3.92? if you dont have the 3.92 then you ought to look at upgrading to a 4.10 or better yet a 4.56. If you have a 3.92 already then 4.56 would be good but not as needed.
what kind of boat? how much does it weigh, how far are you towing it. maybe your trailer is a piece, could look for one that puts more weight on/behind its axle. (please nobody reply saying if all the weight is in the rear it would lift the truck, because thats not what i said)

Thanks for the input so far. I have the 3.92 already. The boat is a 27" world cat and the trailer is a brand new tri axle aluminum with 4 disk brakes. Loaded up the boat weighs about 7000#. Iordered heavy duty shocks and springs and a superchip today. I pull the boat short distances weekly (2 mile round trip to the ramp) and 500 mile round trip about every two months. What else do I need until I can afford my new diesel?
I'd stick with the 3.92, thats what i have, not really worth the cost going to 4.56, plus you live in Fl and its flat there, and your 500 mile trip wont put you anwhere were youll have inclines. what chip did you order? if you dont mind giving some feedback on it once youve had it for a while.
do you keep it in tow/haul the whole way on your 500 mile trip or set back into od once youre cruising? you may look into a tranny temp sensor, maybe even a deeper tranny pan since you are pushing your tow limits.

Power Wise... You Can Only Go So Far With A 4.7 and THAT Much Weight. Does Anyone Use A Weight Distribution Hitch Anymore? I an Tow My 24' Camper Solely Because of my Hitch.

Weight disribution hitches are good, and help a lot. But the fact is they dont lighten the load any. It just transfers the weight forward more. You alo run the risk of overloading the front.
MY .02 is too add air bags. you take the air out and the ride is back to normal. and they dont clack like my old helpers used too. Keep the 3.92's. they will serve you fine. also look into a weight dist hitch, it will "feel" like its towing better.
Just for longevity, switch to a good synthetic in your motor and diff's. Do your tranny too when its due. Really make sure you keep up on your fluid changes on ALL components, as your taxing them.
