Warrant--- To buy or not to buy
My dodge is at 30k, its a 2006, was putting 2k a month now probably 12-1500 miles a month. Im wanting to hold out till dodge releases the 1500 diesel (2009) but will prob wait till 2010 (to see if theres any issues with em)
I think the warranty (through dodge) will be around 2500 bucks to go to 100,000 miles.
Anybody think thats worth it? Or should i just pray and see. I'm no mechanic so if something like a tranny goes out im helpless, not replacing fan clutch or water pump that kind of stuff is easy.
Thanks for any advice

go for it - I bought my extended plan en I bought my truck used with 17K - 4yrs/75K after my factory warranty goes out - If I plan to keep a vehicle for a while and expect to go over 100K that is a first priority, it is much better to have and not need it than need it and not have it - IMO

You can get a better warranty way cheaper than $2.500! Several insurance companies offer them at very good rates. Extended warranties are a crap shoot -- you're betting it'll fail, and they're betting it won't. I had an extended warranty on my "C", but canceled it when I found better coverage for half as much money. I have not bought one for it and probably won't. This is totally your call. I'd say skip it and save the money. I've bought them in the past and never needed it. The flip side is we had one on an '86 Olds Cutlass and it more than paid for itself.

I was looking at extended warrantees and decided against it. For me, I will take the chance that I will not have a major failure. I look at this way, if you have a $3500 repair, you spent $2500 to cover the extra grand and that is not taking into account the time value of money. The sale of the extended warrantees is one of the highest profit margin items the dealer sells. That should tell you something.
However, in my research, I found the following to have the best price for a Chrylser warrantee package. They follow up with additional e-mail discounts if you do not buy right a way.

Pay now or pay later, but why not pay your self first?
Put the 2500.00 into a bank account with the highest intrest you can get, idea being your establashing a emergancy acconut for your truck.
If you maintaian your truck, chances are in yourexcellant you will not have any mecanical issues, but in the event something goes wrong, you have the cash in hand to cover expenses's.
Most ext warenties have deductibles and you really have to understand what is and what not is covered and I bet you have to prove mainatance history in the event something goes wrong.
When the time comes for a new truck, 2500.00 in your pocket will help you out more than a warenty company, Providing no major repairs.
