White Smoke Coming From Muffler?
Hello Everyone,
This is my first dodge truck that I have owned & it'll probably be my last. I've been pretty disappointed with this 2002 dodge ram 1500 truck & I just bought the thing like 3 years ago with like no miles on it. I however need help with #3 & #4 on the complaint list.
1) The dash board is cracking for no reason, especially since it's a pampered dash.
2) When I turn on the heater I get only hot air coming out from the passenger side vents & cold air from the driver side vents.
3) When I accelerate I hear a sound on the passenger side like water running through a pipe.
4) Now I'm starting to get white smoke coming out of the muffler & it smells like coolant.
So if any one can help out with #3 & #4 I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

heyi had a 2002 ram 1500 and it did the same thing, grantit i went throught some deep water and sucked some up...it turned out to be a blown head gasket. and they had to shave down the heads the fix that problem...it was a 4.7L and it all cost around $2200 to fix
those are the same symptoms i had on my 02 when i blew the head gasket. If you are still in warranty range you can take it in to the dealer and get it repaired under the powertrain warranty.I did that and only payed 100 bux.
The easiest way is to start with a cold motor and full radiator with cap removed. Start the motor and look for air bubbles. More than likely as everyone has stated, hope for a blown gasket. I hope for your sake nothing is cracked.

Dont let these things discourage you about Dodge's. Every truck breaks, its just a matter of when. And since you have a 2002, its the first year for the new changes then. New motors, new design, and new components. If you were to get a newer Ram with hopefully the kinks worked out you may be more satisfied. Good luck with the problems

I had the water in a pipe noise in a previous vehicle. New head gaskets fixed the problem. The outcoming air problem might be a bad blend door; there might be a tsb that you could dig up about that.
