Default 2005 dodge ram 1500 quad cab

I'm about to purchase a 2005 Dodge ram 1500 slt quad cab. Silver withblack leather, sunroof, bed liner, 20" wheels, 32000miles for $20500. I see marks near where the hitch ball would go leading me to believe this truck was used for towing. Do I have aything to worry about?

I think the drivetrain warranty is 8yr/80000mi. does this cover complete engine and tranny?

The truck drives great shifts smoothly and had a decent amount of power, but had crappy brakes.

someone had to be really hard on the brakes to wear them out in 30k but i wouldn't worry about the towing part of it as long as it doesn't shift hard. but i'd see if i can get it any cheaper cause that sounds kind of high for a used gas rig but maybe not.

First off Welcome to DodgeForum

That price for a truck with that many miles is a great deal.I think the only warranty offered by dodge was the 7year 70K miles or 7 year/100K miles.Verify with your dealer which warranty you really have.As far as marks on the hitch, if the truck was used for towing, those should eb normal since the truck was used for its main use, to TOW stuff.
As far as what the warranty covers, the Powertrain warranty will cover the Engine and Tranny.(Possible the rear axle too)Check the engien bay thouroghly to see if any alterations were done of any kind that may get you in a bind bringing the truck for warranty work in the future. As far as brakes, i simple install of new brake pads should fix that problem.

After all is said and done, I would say you got a killer deal and truck

Personally I don't think the price is right... A dealership near me is selling 4x4 Hemi 1500 Quad Cabs brand new for $23,500 out the door, before negotiations, (That's the price displayed on the windshield). With that you get the LIFETIME powertrain warranty... These aren't the stripped down versions either, 20" wheels, tow package, Sirius radio, etc...

If you're heart is set on it, then go for it, however I would suggest keep shopping around.... Even a quick look on eBay puts the same truck you described in the neighborhood of the $15k mark, not 20..

To the person that said he could get an 05 for 15k, yes you probably could if you looked long and hard, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to own it or drive it because I already know what kind of shape it will be in and how many miles it will have. I just bought an 05 Daytona 4x4 and paid 19,500 and it had low miles and not one scratch on it, yes I could have got an 06 for 1k less but it just wasn't in as good of shape and it wasn't a Daytona, you usually get what you pay for.

I also feel that price is high. Brand new bighorn packages are going 24-25k here.

but think about the MDS on the new trucks.Cruising while towing something while MDS is activated is actually worse gas milage while running on 4 cylinders. If your gonna tow I would want all 8 cylinders all the time.

I got my 2005 for 15,800... yeah, it was a little higher on mileage (60K), but the carfax on it was clean, it drives great and is a definite upgrade from my 95 Pontiac Grand Am with a Quad 4. I say shop around, you should be able to find a better deal. Try cars.com or autotrader. But be prepared for a lot of follow-ups if you contact any of the dealers about a truck, they are VERY persistent. Good luck.

Well all I can say is thank god for car fax. I asked the sales guy to run a carfax(they called it somthing else) and it showed up "collision with utility pole".The salseman said looks like he backed in to a pole. A nice lady helped me out by calling the previous owner to ask about the truck and she said that he said it was a light brush up against the pole. I managed to get the autobody shop namewhere it was repairedwhich just happened to be the same shop I use. I drove there and talked with them and found out that the little brush up against the pole had a repair bill of over $18000. Needless to say I didn't buy the truck, but I'm surethey willsell it to some unsuspecting shmuck.
I don't care how nice the salesman is they are still salseman.
I hate buying vehicles from dealerships.
