Default Another question about lifts, (sorry)

I have been reading every thread about lifts and found a shop that will install a lift for me for a good price. (I think) If I do a 3" body lift on my 2002 ram 1500 2wd do I have to put in a leveling kit also to get it to sit level? And I want a 3" lift but dont want to buy new tires, here is my truck will it look funny with a 3" lift and not bigger tires. By the way the shop said they would do a body lift for $250, suspension lift for $300 and a leveling kit for $65. I thought that was pretty cheap. The current tires are cooper ST's 275/70/17

Wait... You want a suspension lift, body lift, and leveling kit?

You don't need a leveling kit if you are getting a suspension lift. It is made to level it out. And you need to get a bumper re-locater kit if you do a body lift.

Oh I know I dont need a leveling kit with a suspension lift. Sorry I guess that was confusing. My main question was do I need a leveling kit with my body lift. And I know about the bumper bracket relocators too. I only slipped in the suspenion lift in there for the pricing, I thought it wasa pretty cheap. I want a suspension lift but right now Im on a budget. Probably going to just get a leveling kit right now and a body lift later.

$300 is for the installation as well as the other prices. I was first thinking about getting the Rough Country 3" suspension lift, which is only $289.

With a body lift, you will also need a level kit to make it sit level. With a suspension lift, it will sit level on it's own. The $250 to install a body lift is a little low because it's about a5-6 hour install
for two guys and $65 is also a bit low on a level kit as it should take about an hour per side. But I'd REALLY be leary of someplace that would install a suspension lift on an IFS truck for $300! With the sub-frame and everything, it's a good 8-10 hr. job for a couple of experienced techs. Maybe you just happened to have found a couple of guys who know their stuff and are willing to work cheap, but it sounds too good to be true to me. At least check them out and talk to people who they've done lifts for before using them...

I thought it was low too, since you had told me in the past how much it would cost as well as reading other peoples threads. I had them install my remote start, but dont know of anyone that has had a lift done there mainly because its in another town. Im trying to look around and get some prices. Also will my truck look weird if I get a body lift and dont get bigger tires?

Your guy was damn good then, just checked the .pdf install for the Rough Country Kit #380S w/2" rear blocks and it says avg. install time is @ 8 hrs.
I also don't see any way to hold that sub-frame up and try to bolt it in place without at least one other person. I'm not doubting you, but it took all we had for two of us to get it into place and bolted up. Not to mention that the alignment alone takes a couple of hours...

Wow, I don't know what kind of work he does but, I would sure be second guessing there ability. I would say an average price for a reputable shop to do a body liftincluding installation would be around $800.

With prices like that I would wonder what they are using. They could be one of the busiest shops in the Country with prices like that.
