Tires on my 04 2500 4x4 long bed
Need help with tires. I am running the stock tires but they are almost ready to be replaced. I carry a truck camper and am looking for the highest load rating 17" tire I can find. Anybody know where I can get some at a good price?
Thanks in advance!

Well hey, i'm a noobie to this forum but not a noobie to tires. I work at Les Schwab, don't know if you've ever hear of them, but anywho. The highest load rating for a 17" rim is a 10 ply tire. which should be what is on there now. Now the next question is, what size do you want? You want to go bigger? Make a more beefy look? What ever path you choose, 10 ply is the highest for Light Truck applications and would be best for you. as for where to get them, local tire dealer. if you have a les schwab anywhere near, go there. ya ok i work there and everything, but we do have the best prices.
Well your 10 ply tire will carry anything you throw at it. rating is calculated per tire. so you have 4 tires rating at, lets say around 3500 lbs. so that means 1 tire can handle that much weight at max air pressure. Max air on 10 ply is 80 psi. Most people let some air out to about 60 for a more softer ride without their trailer or camper. Your truck probably has LT265/70/17 10 ply Michelin tires right? If you wanted to get something similar to that, go with a highway tread design. If you go to LS, go with the Toyo H/T. Great highway tire. If your looking for a more aggresive tread that is an All Terrain tire, go with the Toyo A/T. Toyo is going to give you your smoothest ride and also your best treadwear over the life of your tire. Toyo is going to be a lot more expensive than your other brands though. So keep that in mind when shopping, you get what you payed for. More expensive tire equals a lot of good things!!!!!! not so expensive tire equals not so good... Soo if you go to LS and didnt want the toyo's, go with Dean tire. Great all around tire and quite a bit less than the Toyo. Those are our top two tires right there. Especially if your looking for tires that can handle a load. So go with the Dean or Toyo. Just remember when choosing a ply rating, 8 ply is a little softer, a little cheaper, it will give you smoother ride without your load, but if your going to be carrying A LOT of weight, your tires will wear unevenly. 10 ply is harder, a little more stiff ride without your load. But not a lot. haha if your scared about load then get 10 ply.

I took off the stock 265 BFG's E rated at 3500 and went with 315's and D rated at 3150. Granted I don't haul much but show me something I cant tow with my truck and I'll show you something that needs more than a 3/4T even with the oil burners...
