Default Speedometer problem

Ok So my speedometer doesn't work on my 4.7 and the ABS and Brake light wont go away either. The check engine light is on so I ran the code and it said the VSS. So I changed the speed sensor, cleared the code, but still the same problem and the light came back on. Any ideas? Its also weird because my friend changed the deck and the deck resets every time the truck turns off.If I program the deck it doesn't save. Its after market, and I have to turn it on everytime I start it. Thanks for the advice.

First off I'd go to your fuses for the speedo but it sounds like your deck, I am assuming this is some sort of slang for stereo, was installed wrong by your buddy. If it's not a fuse I would remove the stereo and see if this eliminates the problem. Also have you reset your computer? If not disconnect your battery for 5 minutes or so then rehook it up.

Check the abs box under your hood and make sure all the plugs are dry....the same the thing happened to mine (abs and speedo problem, not stereo) It had rained alot and one of the plugs got water in it...all i did was unplug it and took and air compressor and blew out the plug to dry it out and i worked fine after that...Also, about your stereo...it sounds like it was'nt hooked up right, i think there is usually and wire that supplys your deck with constant power so it doesnt reset everytime you turn the truck off.

ok i'll check out the deck. Its the yellow wire thats the constant, I haven't had a chance to check it, but where is the abs box under the hood? I already checked all the fuses. Fuses are all good.

I agree that the ABS/speedo are the same problem since the speedo reads off the ABS wheel sensor.
