RE: MPG W/ 4.56's
Just to add some numbers:
My truck with 35's and 4.56 gears (and a whole lotta weighty extras - just shy of 7000 lbs. on the junkyard scale)
All around driving (mostly in-town, some 45 & 55 mph hiways) 13.6 mpg
Last trip to the Ga. farm & back (360 miles each way, 80% Interstate at 75-78 mph. w/650 lb. ATV in the bed) 15.4 mpg
When bone stock it was roughly the same in all-around driving but the interstate trips w/o ATV in the bed were substantially better at about 17.5 mpg...

RE: MPG W/ 4.56's
oefootball,
Are you running my same set up? 3in spindles and 2.5 coil spacers?
I emailed them...no response.
Called them and the man said "we dont have that problem" and that was that.
unfortunately they have poor customer service.
speaking of MPG, everyones seems really good.... I have stock 20in rims with 35in tires and stock 3.92 gears. Am i getting worse MPG then i would if i regeared to 4.56's?
Thanks guys

I went from 3.92s to 4.56s within about a month after lifting and going to 35's on 17s and could tell a night/day difference, especially off the line and when accelerating to pass someone...

RE: MPG W/ 4.56's
the orignal post
of dropping from the 'normal' 5.7 Ram 4x4 MPG of 18 at 71 mph
down to 16 MPG because of hard rolling tires
and then further dropping
to 14 MPG at 71 mph with 4.56 diff gears
sounds
'in the ballpark'
for MPG losses to me
A new off the lot
2007 Ram 5.7 Powerwagon with its factory 4.56 diff gears
got a steady 14 MPG
heading south out of Wilmington NC on a very flat I-40
at a GPS measured 70 mph,
but there was only 160 miles on the odo
and the tires had new deep tread that rolls harder
In just a few months
you will be able to test drive nearly identical 5.7 Rams
with 3.21, 3.42, 3.55, 3.92, 4.10 and 4.56 diff gears
all from the factory
