Default fog lights

i just bought a 08 ram 1500it already had the pigtail hanging down for the fog lights, so i took my foglights off my 05 and plugged them in i would like to do something like the jumper wire pin 85 to 86 like i did on my 05 but from what i have read thats not possible. so if they are plugged into to factory pigtail all i should have to do is get a factory switch with the fog light control???? or could i just wire them directly to the parking lamps because i want them on whenever my lights are on. thanks for any advice oh and whats this i have heard about getting them programmed???

IF YOU PUT THE FACTORY SWITCH IN THEN YES YOU WILL NEED THEM PROGRAMMED. I THINK A COUPLE OF GUYS ON HERE HAVE WIRED THEM INTO THE PARKING LIGHTS. DONT REALLY KNOW IF IT WORKS OR NOT, SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD.

Some report that just getting the switch worked and some have had to have the PCM updated. But yes, I would imagine if you wired straight to the parking lights would work.
I installed a set of Recon cab lights on a friends Chevy for him, and unlike our trucks, he had no harness in the pillar, so I just ran a wire to the parking light relay in his fuse box. I don't see why your fog lights should not work the same way...

To do it right, get an new headlight switch. I have installed a boat load of these. Sometimes they come on and work when the high beams are on and sometimes you have to have the "front fog light output" enabled by a dealer..Hope this helps...DAVID
