every 5000-7500 with mobil 1 5-30 and purolator pure one filter. comes out and still looks good everytime.
i got a buddy at work that drives a 89 acura integra his daily driver with around 290000 miles on it and he changes the oil once a year with amsoil (yes ONCE a year, usually 20-24000 miles) thing runs perfect too. i mean its not a new truck or new car or anything but still that just shows you that changing your oil every 3k is a bit much.

I use the Amsoil 0W20 in our 05 Hemi. I also installed the dual filtration system. I change oil between 20 and 25,000 miles. I used Amsoil in an 86 Dodge Lancer turbo and got over a half million miles out of it before I sold it. Fact is, it is the best lubricant out there, period.

Voted 3000, however it does occasionally make 4000 before I get the truck in.

I try to use Valvoline oil primarily, but am considering a switch to a synthetic oil.

Every 15,000 miles. My truck just passed 13,000 miles on the odometer and I still have the stock oil in it.

Minex, what are you planning on using?
Good to hear a diesel running long drain intervals. I had an ol oil burner, hell I'd have to top it off so often I'd just replace the filter.
My buddys dad has a fleet of 8 2002 f350 diesels, he changes every 3k, I keep hounding him to go longer, its just a waste of both money (and I'm no tree hugger, I see bambi and I think of backstrap) and of our natural resources and damages the environment.

I still debating on whether I should switch to synthetic after this first oil change and what type to use. This is my first diesel, so I really don't know what I should use or if even the 15k oil interval is a good thing. I had a fairly lengthy conversation in the Cummins section about this. The way I see it, if the manual states that my oil change intervals are every 15,000 miles, then thats what I'm going to do. I would expect that the recommended service intervals given from Dodge themselves should give me adequate service life from the vehicle. Anyway, I'll definitely be doing an oil analysis on my first oil change and will adjust my future oil changes according to that.

I thought the 03-05 Rams are non MDS so why would that matter?
The non-MDS Hemi uses either 5w-30 or 10w-30 depending on outside temperature. Very hot summer = 10w
