Default Towing capicity

What is the max weight a 2005 2500 diesel 4x4 can pull? I've read 13K is the max can I safely go higher?

You can double check at http://www.dodge.com/towing. Do your search by Vehicle, Model,Body Style/drive train, Bed length, Engine/Transmission.

Example: 2006 dodge ram pickup 2500 2500 SLT, QUAD CAB, 4WD, 6.25 Ft Bed, 4-Speed Automatic Transmission, 5.9-Liter HO Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine: 13,000# (more information comes with it, but this was just an example).

Man

Towing over 13k on a 3/4 ton truck... That is a lot. Possibly not an issue for the engine but I would be concerned on that pull. The weight is alot to stop even with trailer brakes and a heavy duty truck.

I'm guessing its not a dually either? How often are you gonna be trailering this? Do you have abs? If youre gonna be doing this a lot you may want to look into better brakes, at least get the fronts done since that's where the bulk of your stopping power is. And seriously youll need a good trailer brake. Are there gonna be declines, you may want to get a good exaust brake.
