Default SuperChips the way to go????

I've got an 05 dodge ram 1500 hemi, im not looking for huge amounts of power out of this thing but i want punks on the street to know my trucks got a pair if you know what i mean. I have been looking into a chip or programer for my truck for sometime but i cant make up my mind as far as what one i want. Are superchips pretty much the top notch for this kind of part?? So far i have a K&N 77 series intake, and flowmaster 40 series exhaust installed on my truck. But my plans are to reprogram/ or superchip, and put on a throttle body spacer and be done with it. Can anyone tell me how many mpg i would get off of a setup like that? And if superchips are the way to go, maybe a part number as to one that will fit my needs. Any help would be great...

Thanks,

Bryce

CAI, cat-back & a Superchips Flashpaq model 3815 is probably the most common mod package for a '05 Hemi truck and a tough combo to beat. Nix the throttle body spacer though. Nobody is showing ANY gains from one on a Hemi andsome even report a loss of performance, not to mention a very annoying whistling sound that they produce on our trucks...

If you are worrying about the "punks" on the street think, you are either one of the "punks" or want to be one of the " punks," which one is it?

superchips is a waste of money, time and does not help your truck at all. I bought it an used it for 3 days before i couldnt take the shifts from 1-2nd being so high, and my gas milage went from 14.5 around town to 5.6 around town, i didnt feel any more power! I went on thesuperchips forum and they did nothing for me, theyhad me download a diffrent version special for my truck orthats what they said and it was the same thing!
SO i sold it for 300.00 on ebay 150 less then what i paid for it! my 2 cents superchips is junk!!!!

5.6 MPG in town!?! Were you hauling a longbed trailer of bricks behind you? That's ridiculous or just calculated incorrectly!

I don't mean to question your mpg, but dayum.......I think that you had something else going on there. Maybe a bad unit. Don't get me wrong, I have one and I think that it is great. However, I think that their customer service SUX! Their techs are a joke and all, but from 14 to 5 mpg? That seems a bit much. I haven't really gained any mpg with the 87 octane tune I was at 15 mpg and I am still there, but the beefier shifting is pretty sweet. I am gonna fill up with 91 next time and put it on performance tune to see if I like it any better. I have read from people on this forum that you actually get better mpg in performance mode.

I recently got the SC3815 and I run the performance tune on 91 and I am impressed with it.My MPG has not gone down a bit...even increased slightly, but im still driving it pretty hard so I would not be surprised to see gains in MPG from conservative driving

Now I'm no Superchips fan, by any means. Even though I own one, I feel betrayed by their abrupt reversal on "custom tunes" which is not only the chief reason I went with them, but have assurances in writing from them that they would be coming out with them. It turned into a bold face lie!
But, that said, for anyone with a stock to mildly modded truck (ie.- Cai, exhaust) it is the BEST tuner available for the Hemi. You are the only one that I have heard report a LOSS in fuel economy with ANY of the 3 tunes on it!!! I have also been a witness to an '05 RCSB Hemi 4x2 get dyno'd bone stockand after adding a Flowmaster 50HD muffler, K&N CAI and the performance tune from the Flashpaq 3815 at my local performance shop and the HP and Torque gains were VERY respectable.
I have no clue why it did not work for you, but your experience was very far from the norm...
