Default Brake Controller Drain Battery?

OK, so I know things in the truck (2007 1500 Mega Cab) are constantly drawing power (ECM, radio for the clock, etc.). I was curious what the weekend trailer people like me do with their brake controllers when they know they will not be using them, do they leave them in the truck all connected and powered on, or disconnect/remove them and only plug it in when you need it? I'm wondering if the Prodigy I just installed will drain the battery in the truck, as it seems to insist on drawing power constantly.

I a few extra power add ons like a 1500w power inverter to charge my 120v wheelchair, my 12v wheelchair hoist. I installed a cut off switch for them. My other stuff stays hooked up all the time w/ no drain.

No likely the brake controller draws any current, unless you have it holding the trailer brakes on for some reason. I don't even know if that's possible.
