I am taking my bed cover off of my 2004 QC pickup; but I have a simple question before I do that though. The original owner before me had the tonneau cover installed with a light. The light looks like it goes underneath the bed and plugs into the trailer lights.

My question is: How do I un-install the cover with light effectively. The light comes on without the truck running, so I am assuming it's always hot. If I just cut (which I do not want to do) the wires, would it shock me? I would rather just unhook. Any helpful ideas or experience with this?

I am a novice with electricity as you can tell, so be easy on me.

I'm not very good with that kinda stuff at all but my first assumption is to disconnect the battery.
