Default Ball Mounts and pintle hooks

I just recently purchased a new trailer for my boat and was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with combination pintle hooks like this one http://www.trailer-parts-forless.com.../10080002.html

I was wondering if it will be a pain in the *** considering i need a 2 5/16" ball and i should just get a ball mount or if it will work out just fine. the only reason im looking at the combination pintle is because i was figuring it would give me a better place to tow people out from ditches and such. Also as far as ball drop what do you guys have on a dodge ram 1500?

you call that a pintle?

i dont see why it would be a problem. but if you already have a ball and are concerned about pulling someone out of a ditch, i use looped straps, typically use the hooks on the front of my truck, now that i have a bull bar im using a tow ball, all i do is wrap the strap around the hitch and then loop the ball and it wont come lose.

I see what you are getting at is the COMBINATION of the two; hook and ball?

If YOUR trailer lines up height-wise with that straight 2" shank then I would go for it. If you plan to adjust your bed with a lift, air bags or you need a drop I would get an adjustable Combination of ball and pintle.

I tow various items and have an adjustable pintle/ball. Often it is just back to a construction yard or to the rental shop. But having the trailer, mixer or whatever ride level and not put too lttle or too much tongue weight is important.

Just my $.02. Good Luck.
