They CAME! Recon's Backup Lamps
I would have to go with a dual activation. 1 being a switch and one being the reverse lights. Just wire the reverse lights and the switch to the activation post on the relay and then run some heavy wire from the battery for power.
With this setup you can have you cake and eat it too. I think I might have to take a look at this for my truck as well and if I do get this system I will be doing the switch/or reverse lights.
Oh, and you might want to put a diode in line on the reverse lights line to the relay so you don't back feed those lights and mess something up when you use the switch.

Since it sounds like there is some work involved with the wiring would it be a possiblity to have them activate when in reverse, and when the cargo lamp is used? This would def. give you an OEM looking switch!

how much have you been drinking boy?
did you decide on switch, rev or both? if just the rev can you try wiring into your 7 pin connector?
well thats about it for my electrical knowhow. oh well that and just make sure your barefoot in a puddle while your doing it.
good luck.
Just getting out of bed... ugh head hurts.
Yes.. I Am Doing Both.. Switch And Revrse Activate.. And The OEM Revrse Lamp Set Up Will Not Support The Peak Draw Of These Lamps..
My Advanced Question Is...
I Bought A Diode To Wire My Relay.. The (IF) Rating Is Only 1A.. I Would Think Two Backup Lamps Would Need At Least A 2A or 3A (If) - And Is 50V (PIV) More Than Enough? They Reccomended A IN4005 Which Is A 600V PIV - Thats A Wee Bit Over Kill Aint It?
