Yeah. Keeping your foot on the engine compartment will do that. Mine avaerages for all my driving is 16.5 MPG, best HWY has been 22.1 MPG. Needless to say I'm not disappointed. Feeding 345 horses takes a bit.
I average around 9-10 in the city...which SUCKS. I drive my 97 Ram 2wd w/the 360 more than my HEMI cause it's easier on gas. I've had it as high as 17 mpg on the interstate.
I just put on a set of Dual exhaust on my 2004 Quad cab 4x4. It has 2400. miles on it. No change in mileage so far. When I first got it the mileage was better.I tried 89 octane and there was no improvement. So I went back to 87 oct. I used to work in an Oil refinery and I know that this time of the year the refineries put more butane in the fuel to raise the octane and make it easier for the engines to start. The only thing is that the mileage will go down some. Around town with lots of lights I get around 10 at speeds around 25 to 35 mph. Once I can get into the open roads with traffic lights and speeds around 45 to 50 I get around 14 to 15 mpg.I haven't tried any long interstate trips yet. But once I can get past the 45 mph speed the mileage does go up. The High Butane fuels will be in effect until March 15 th.They also use more MTBE to get the octane up.
I just purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 QC 4x4. What kind of gas mileage can I expect? I was thinking 6-8 city and 12-14 hwy. I didnt want to buy a diesel so I went with the Hemi...I figured I can buy alot of gas for what the diesel option costs.
