Default shaking at very low speed

I did a search for this but only found the same at high speeds. When stopped if I let my foot off the brake i get this shake for a few seconds until i come to a full stop or until i hit the gas. I feel like it comes from the tranny, because if i put it into neutral i get no shake. My wife was with me yesterday, and said that she didnt notice it, but I do every stop sign or red light. Just a little back story I just bought this truck about two weeks ago used its an 03 quad cab with the 4.7 only 49k miles.

my 2000 dodgeram 1500 i use to have did a very similar thing to what
you describe, i never really figured out the reason though,
seemed like it was the tranny.

Wow...my 2002 does the same thing. At a crawl the truck will shimmy until I give it gas. I am confused also. Does it in reverse also. Must be tranny but is it a major problem? Just bought the truck last week with 94K.

My 04 truck had done the same thing, when driving under 60 m/hr the truck would shake from the rear. The issue with mine was that the back universal joint was seizing. Got it replaced and all was good. It sucks since on 1500 you can't grease them, plus the truck was my work truck, never stopped and the damn joint was seizing (first time I heard that) usually they loosen!!!!

Maybe that's what's goin' on with mine....

I get a vibration (slight) around 40 MPH.
In just the past few days, I'm hearing a very light "clunk" when I'm coming to a heavy stop.
I hear it when the weight shifts forward abruptly.
I figure I should probably replace the U jernts and the shocks at some point
(probably sooner rather than later) [sm=scared09.gif]

It is most likely your tranny, your gears are getting stuck when they should be shifting up or down causing that to happen.
