Default what upgrade?

Hi, new guy here. I did a search, but found very little. I have a 2004 QCLB 4x4w/Hemi, I bought a camper(cab-over) the dealer told me it weighs about 2400lbs. My ? is should I go with a programmer or should I get gears first?

Unless it's a 3500, you're already way over payload.

I had airbags installed, so the payload isn't the issue. I am more concerned with take off power(i.e pulling hills)

To answer your question, I'd say 4.56s, maybe even 4.88s. Airbags aren't the only issue you'll be dealing with, though. Brakes will become an issue with that much overload. Axle capacity may come into play, as well. Good luck.

That's a monster camper for your truck. Way overloaded. Brakes, shocks, springs, axle, wheels, the whole chassis, etc... You are putting way too much stress on the truck unless it's a 3500 and even then you are slightly overloaded.

Yeah, sounds overloaded. That is the weight of the unit alone, add the rest of the weight that you will put in it.

The tallest gears you get are 4.56.

That dealer should've known better than to sell you that much camper. Hopefully, you can get out of the deal.

First off, thank you, to everyone who gave me info. Come to find out the camper is almost 3000lbs, and the dealer is telling me they sell campers that big to people with 3/4 tons all the time. I had to hold myself back from strangling the manager. So far they are not willing to do anything.[:@][:@][:@] P.S Don't ever buy from Guarnty motors in Oregon.[:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]

Looks like they have you by the short and curlies. I just looked up the '08 2500. Don't know if the '04 is the same. Anyway, payload is 3,210# GVWR is 9,000# Curb weight is 5,360# You'll be at 8,600# before you add passengers and "stuff". Make sure you travel light
