Mine is there when its cold. It stops for about a week after an oil change and then starts back up. And it doesnt go away even when the truck is warmed up, just in cold weather it ticks. Its not too bad but I can notice it. Mine has 95,000 miles tho but noticed it at about 78,000. I heard some Lucas oil works good to get rid of it for awhile.

I have the same problem ... just started about two weeks ago (was very cold around here ... like 10 degrees). I am just about due for an oil change so I guess I will do that and see if that helps at all. I always run Mobil 1 Synthetic.

I also had a lifter tick in my 1990 ranger and ran her until 160,000 with no problems. I was told it wont hurt it.

All you need to check the gap onyour lifters and rockers. it ticks in the cold and start up because the gap is too big and you have no or low oilpressure. I had a 90' dakotathat did the some thank.
