so...i'm trying to convert my center console to actually open up...
wanted to do the same way back when but couldn't come up with a solution for the locking clasp ... not to mention i'd have to get the thing reupholstered and it's also missing the dividers so that the inside can be split up into compartments
I've got a slight suggestion for you, In the past when i needed cheap parts... i went to a junk yard. There is always stuff there. And they are looking to make money on the big parts.. .like engine parts, wheels, ect. A few screws hinges and a latch from a totaled ram would be pennies to them and you may even get them free... i have in the past. If your lucky you may find the whole console intact and can just get that.... seams easier to me then finishing plywood anyways....
ORIGINAL: HighDuke1911
when i had an ST, i had that center console that could open up... wierd.

and, abotu the junkyard...the local (virtually only one here) doesn't have any 02+ rams. i also call often, so i could do there and snag some things (don't know what...but anything)

Derricksmash,
Hey, glad to see you finally got around to pulling the fabric off to check. The weather is starting to warm up and i can actually spend some time outside tearing apart the truck and installing mods. Its hard to do mods in the winter without a garage, you end up freezing your butt off. Back in Dec i had to help a friend tow some stuff down from Chicago, so i installed the tow package just before the Jan 1st outside in the snow and ice..... never again! Mod time = summer time!

And to think you called me a dork! ha!
earlier today, i read this..and was like, "lol...what a dork. of course it's not the console version just wrapped in fabirc". then...on the way to work, i feel around it, and it totally is. you could feel the line going all the way around, as well as the spot for the latch. interesting. maybe i'll rip it apart tomorrow =)

I agree! Winter sometimes can really stink and is very hard to do anything to my truck without a garage. Can't wait for the warmer weather!
lol petz. i remember you.
yea, this is gonna be not as nice as i wanted. i'm gonna just end up stretching it, and stapling it under prolly...so, when you lift it open, you will see it all. i'm still not sure yet.
