I got an AVIC D3 which I'm going to install in my truck. For anyone who has installed an aftermarket NAV, where dod you put the GPS sensor?

Where is the GPS sensor for stock nav? I think it must be in the little bubble on top of the truck, along with the sirius antenna. Is there a way for me to put the nav antenna inside there, or should I just fit it on the dash?

Looking for the best possible installation.

ours was a little magnetic squar that we ran out the passenger door and stuck it on the roof right above the glass

 

The NAV antenna on new Rams is under the top dash panel....It is not part of the Sirrus sat antenna on the roof....

 

I put it under one of the unused speaker holes in the front of the dash, since i only have the 4 speaker system.

i have the avic d3 also and it is a very nice unit i put my gps antenna in the middle of the dash kinda like bwhite did but its in the middle hole. I'm not sure as to the factory antenna i didn't have the nav unit before but i did use the factory antenna from my sirius radio with the pnr-snr2 sirius adapter for the d3 which is nice cause i didn't want to install another antenna on my truck when i already had one from the factory
