I had a 1998 5.2 Ram that was in perfect shape with 166k on it when I sold it 4 years ago and the latest owner drives it everyday to work and it still looks beautiful. No rust not ever a ding anywhere on it. He just needed to replace the aircondition last year. It doesnt drip or burn oil. I had the tranny serviced at 125k and thats all I did besides brakes and oil changes.

What's the highest mileage 4.7 you all know about? I'm only at 44k and runs perfect, and have powertrain warranty till 80,000 or 2012. I'll probably have another vehicle in 2010 along with the ram so I'll probably get to use the warranty till 2012. Anyway, I'm just wondering if it'll be a dumb idea to put a lot of money into it when it reaches around 65k (want to put 33's, rims, and other "big" accessories on it). I want to keep this truck forever though. Also, I'm not worried about it rusting since I wax it all the time and the paint still looks new. No scratches, just 2 small dings! But as everyone else stated, as long as you keep it maintained..

Ram0447, I've got an '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee for my daily driver, bought about 6 months ago with 61k on it based on the fact that I have two seperate friends with vehicles with the 4.7 in it who each have over 230k miles on theirs. If you want to get bigger tires and some other mods at 65k I'd say, go right ahead...

A guy on a Mustang board I frequent has a 4.7 Dakota with 285,000 on it. No major problems.

4.7L plus six speed i'm getting in may hopefully. she's on factory order for then. I'm hoping to go for a million miles on the thing. It will be my first car well second, had a 97 jeep wrangler trading it for this new truck. and I plan to keep her forever. I'll buy other cars and such but this will be with me till the day I die. If i make it to a million the next goal will be 2 mill

just turned over to 92,000 miles on my 02 and the most major work ive had to do to it was a water pump. oh and i had to vut out my cat, which was done yesterday. thats all for fixing.
thats an 02? Ha my buddys 02 sc looks like ***, wonder why his looks so much worse.
Anyways he's has a tranny issue around 80k nothing since its around 90k now.

I on the other hand have had a rear main seal leak at 10k, rear speed sensor (still acting up), tranny leak. But thank god I didn't buy a ford or a chevy.
yep...its an 02. the guy i bought it from had it garage kept. and my dad knew the guy, so i knew what the truck went through. he took care of it and didnt drive it much, so its in near perfect shape. he only used it to put his 2 dirtbikes in the back and drove up north every so often to ride his bikes....i dont even think it saw a trailer before it got to me and less than 10k miles in town
