Default jacks and jack stands

How big of a jack and jack stands is the right size for the truck? 2 ton, 3 ton? Is it ok to put the jack under the rear diff. to jack it up? Where do you jack from in the front? Thanks

2 or 3 ton will work. Yes you can jack up under the rear diff. Find a strong cross member in the front, or jack up one side at a time by the frame. Easiest for me in the front is to drive it up on ramps.

A 2 ton jack is fine for lifting one side of the truck at a time or the front and rear separately.

Yes, you can lift the rear using the diff or if you want the suspension to hang, then use the frame or hitch mounts.

The front depends what you are doing. You can use the frame crossmember or you can just raise one corner, etc.

2 ton jack stands for one half of the truck are fine.

I have an elderly three-ton floor jack and three-ton jack stands. I use the stands to hold his rump up while I rotate the tires. Used to support my '66 LeMans drop-top with the stands to preserve the tires.
