Default tranny cooler?

I had the truck on the beach the other day, and noticed that the tranny was starting to over heat a little bit. I was def running it hard though. So I was wondering if any of you are using a tranny cooler and if so, what would u reccomend, and how is it installed? where would I find one? and where is it installed? is it hard to DIY?

what about changing out the automatic transmission fluid, is that reccomended? if so how often, and what type of fluid would you all reccomend? and if possible , how is it done?

Thanks for your help guys

What truck? How many miles? The fluid is relatively easy to change, but a bit messy. Well worth saving $60 or so.

Honestly I have no idea if it has a stock one. I just figured it would def be a good thing to put in/upgrade??? since My transmission light did come on....for a couple of min.....Do you think the fluid should be changed right away???

if it came with a tow package it'll have an aux tranny cooler. Done know how much they sell for as I have the tow package. It may be easier and cheaper to get a deeper pan.

just noticed you said your were on the beach. I drive down 40-60 miles of 4x4 only beach, from real soft deep sand at 10 mph to 2 feet deep seaweed and hard packed sand going 50mph. All in 4w and never had an issue.
